Lessons

I started teaching back in 2001 on my return from working abroad, and for the last ten years have worked in and out of schools for Staffordshire Performing Arts. I have also continued to deliver private lessons on a weekly basis.

Lessons are usually taught at my home address which is within the Brownhills, Walsall area. Travel can be made to local student addresses, however this would reflect in the cost of each lesson due to travel time and expenses.

As a school teacher, my police checks are valid and up to date.

Drum Kit

All styles of music are covered here, allowing the student to develop in every area of music from Jazz, Funk, Latin to Rock!! Each lesson is prepared for the individual, but where appropriate Grade preparation, Rudiment work, track work and development of all styles is incorporated in each lesson. All grades 1 – 8 can be done with me from the Rock School or London College Syllabus.

Saxophone

Many styles are covered - Grades done with Associated Board.

Keyboards

Many styles covered including basic piano skills – grades done with London College Music. I have a 100% pass rate for exams, with most achieving a distinction or merit level.

Books

I have produced a range of teaching books complete with CD which have proven to be an excellent teaching aid for the beginner to advanced. Books cost £12 each and can be ordered from me direct.

Lesson Prices

Lessons cost £22 per hour, but discounts are available for students who pay in advance for block bookings.

When a block booking is made and paid for in advance, it is offered with a reduced lesson rate. The larger the block the bigger the discount I offer. Usual single lesson price £22 per hour.

  • Block of 10 £180 ( £18 per lesson )
  • Block of 20 £320 ( £16 per lesson )
  • Block of 30 £420 ( £14 per lesson )

Lesson Cancellations

I do not charge for lessons that are cancelled in advance within 2 hours. If circumstances change such as the student is taken ill, or returns home from school ill on the day of the lesson due, no cancellation fee is applied.

If the lesson is not cancelled and I am left waiting for the student, then I ask that the lesson is still paid for in full.

I am always happy to consider rescheduling a lesson if work commitments or illness occurs. I myself may at times require a lesson to be moved, cancelled or rescheduled due to a gig, illness, or child care commitments.

IMPORTANT – PLEASE READ

If during the course of the lesson block the student or parent decides they no longer wish to continue for any reason, NO REFUND is made for lessons not yet taken.

A block booking is based upon the understanding that ALL lessons are taken. I do not require them to be taken during a specific time limit if they are taken regularly. If the student wishes to have a break from lessons that’s fine, the lessons will remain available to be taken when the student decides to return. However if the student has had a break for more than 2 years I will consider the lessons remaining to be void and will no longer be available.

Please bear in mind that I am willing to reduce lesson prices for a lesson block with the absolute understanding of the terms set out above.

If for any reason you feel that a lesson block may not be fulfilled it is important that you consider the option of paying for lessons on a ‘pay as you go’ arrangement at a cost of £22 per hour.
